This word means ‘Resinated wine’. The word ‘Retsina’ is a protected Appellation with a geographical origin and only applies to the region of the Attic Peninsula, and only involves the use of a grape indigenous to the Attic Peninsula the Savatiano grape. Furthermore, the pine resin comes from a pine tree that is indigenous to the Attic Peninsula.
